Blueberry Friands

I seem to make all  my confessions here. Sometimes I make the kids a real ice-cream (eggs, cream, vanilla etc) and I am left with a bunch of egg whites. We can’t stand food waste so this recipe was born from necessity really. How lucky we are that this is actually one of my favourites to date! It is one of those recipes that even your non-healthy mates will love – there’s no difference in taste to friands you find in the café but you’re going to get all the goodness of whole food ingredients. Lemon Slice

I am obsessed with citrus desserts. I rarely have dessert or sweet things but when I do I just love a lemony treat! Or cheese. But that’s another story… I had been craving this type of slice for so long and couldn’t find out there what I was after – something free of gluten, refined sugar & grains and something that didn’t crumble. So I created it, and I know you are going to love it! ♥ Continue reading

Berry Muffins

I feel like a bit of a cheat posting this recipe as they are actually a variation on the Coconut Apple Cupcakes I created a while back. But I’ve found myself making these so much – more than the apple ones, and the kids love them so I thought it would be a handier reference for everyone. Also I wish there was a way to describe just how good they smell baking! You will have to make them yourself just on this factor alone! Continue reading

Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets

My 13 year old daughter just said to me, “Mum, these are SO good.”

I’ll take that! These are such a great first step for a really fussy eater and they’re one of the first steps I took to covert my ultra picky eating eldest son to a whole food diet (we’re talking 5-foods-only-level of picky eating). Get rid of the crappy, expensive frozen nugs for these instead – once you’ve nailed these and the kids are loving them then you can move on to the next introduction. I guess these nuggets are like a gateway whole food! Continue reading

Probiotic Hummus

I had so much fun creating this recipe for so many reasons. Firstly dips are so yummy! They are also great to encourage healthy little dip partners – for example vegie sticks (crudites) or Grain Free Crackers. This recipe is a great introduction to some exotic flavours for young ones too, with the addition of ground cumin adding a twist to extend young palates. Lastly the addition of some probiotics will support gut health and immunity. Continue reading
